Surbhi Jyoti is an Indian actress who appears in Punjabi films as well as on Hindi television. She made her acting debut in 2010 with Akiyaan Toh Door Jaaye Na as Sona. She rose to prominence after her portrayal of Zoya Farooqui in Zee TV’s romantic Qubool Hai, for which she won several awards including the ITA Award for GR8.
Jyoti gained widespread popularity after portraying shape-shifting serpent Bela Sehgal in Colors TV’s popular supernatural Naagin 3, for which she received a nomination for Best Actress at the Indian Television Academy Awards.
Jyoti was born in Jalandhar, Punjab, India. She received her early education from Shiv Jyoti Public School and then graduated from Hans Raj Mahila Mahavidyalaya. As a student of Hans Raj Mahila Mahavidyalaya, she participated in debates and won laurels. Surbhi is a graduate of APJ College of Fine Arts with a Bachelor’s in Economics and a Master’s degree in English Literature.
Jyoti started her career in regional theater and films. She has also been a radio jockey. She worked in the Punjabi language films Ik Kudi Punjab Di, Raula Pai Gaya, and Munde Patiala De as well as the Punjabi television series Akiyaan Toh Door Jaaye Na and Kach Diyan Vanga.
In late 2012 Jyoti bagged the television show Qubool Hai, produced by 4 Lions Films and aired on Zee TV. She played the role of Zoya Farooqui. He was given the Performer of the Year – Indian Television Academy Awards and Zee Gold Award for this role. She was ranked 16th in an annual poll conducted by the UK-based weekly newspaper Eastern Eye.
In June 2018, Jyoti was featured as the main female lead in Balaji Telefilms’ show Naagin 3, which aired on Colors TV. The show received high TRPs and ended in May 2019. In 2020 she appeared in Yeh Jadoo Hai Jinn Ka.
In 2020 Jyoti was featured in a music video titled “Aaj Bhi” with VYRL Originals alongside actor Ali Fazal. In 2020, she also featured in another music video titled “Judaiyan” with Darshan Raval. In March 2021 she made her comeback in the digital space with the web series Qubool Hai 2.0.
